LINOCUT WORKSHOP

LINOCUT WORKSHOP

A new series of workshops for kids. This time we will present to you a fantastic technique of linocut, which is a relief printing technique in printmaking. Linocut is similar to woodcut but instead of cutting in wood, we cut in a sheet of linoleum. The image is transferred onto linoleum and cut with various types of special knifes, V-shaped chisel or gouge. During our meetings kids will get to know this printing method, they will prepare a project and many colourful prints.

A JOURNEY INTO CONTEMPORARY ART

A JOURNEY INTO CONTEMPORARY ART

In May 2013 KIWI started with the cycle of 5 workshops in English on contemporary art. Interactive and inter-disciplinary actions involving image, movement and sound made it possible for kids to familiarise themselves with design, animation, performance, street art and land art.

KIWI’S FOLK

KIWI’S FOLK

It was KIWI’s original project created especially for Polish kids living in Brussels and co-financed by the Consular Section of the Polish Embassy in Brussels. While playing and having fun, children learnt about Polish folklore, culture and tradition, addressed however in a modern way. It was a great journey which culminated in an exhibition and the publication of a book presenting children’ works.

LAND ART IN GARDEN OF WIELS

LAND ART IN GARDEN OF WIELS

Ecology is very important for KIWI. Working in concert with the Urban Ecology Centre, we organised a workshop on land art. This form of art covers creations involving natural open spaces. Such activities often interfere with the landscape, reshaping some of its elements. During the workshop children used recycled materials to build sculptures, then integrated into the space of the garden in WIELS.

ABSTRACT KIWI

ABSTRACT KIWI

It was a cycle of 4 meetings with art of a very abstract nature. Children had to find answers to questions concerning abstract art, including active painting, happening, performance, flashmobe art installations, contemporary sculpture etc. At the end, a great and colourful exposition of kids’ works was organised.

KIWI IN ANTWERP

KIWI IN ANTWERP

KIWI has taken part in various initiatives involving schools and others institutions. It was invited by Sint Jan Berchmanscollege, the Children of Europe and the Polish School in Antwerp to organise workshops on design for children of different nationalities living in Belgium. The purpose of this project was to promote Polish culture and in particular design inspired by Polish folklor.

My city is different

My city is different

"My city is different" is KIWI’s most recent project. The idea behind this colourful and richly illustrated book is to help Polish children coming to Belgium with their parents to embrace the new reality. The publication is a funny story about two kids living in two different cities. Whilst Francois lives in Brussels and was born here, Marie lives in Gdańsk. Her parents intend to move to Belgium in a few months. Children exchange information about the two countries, their cultures and customs.

OTHERS

OTHERS

Running workshops for kids, both individual and for groups, is KIWI’s primary activity. Moreover, we can offer workshops for adults about contemporary art and courses of painting and drawing. KIWI has a extensive experience in collaborating with educational and cultural institutions.

KIDS in the box

KIDS in the box

On Sunday the 20th of September 2015 D44 Architecture and KIWI invited all kids to a street art action on Place Flagey. There kids and KIWI team turned into street artists and designers. They created the new look of the boxes placed on the square as part of the exhibition ART-IN-THE-BOX "MAGIC BOX - POLISH DESIGN" made by D44 Architecture for Brussel Design September.

CREATIVE WORKSHOPS ARE OUR SPECIALITY

Modern art is about emotions expressed through colour, structure, matter and body language.

It is just as fast and variable as the world we live in.

We want to show children its diversity, teach them to read it and, most importantly, express themselves through art.
